|Harold Everett Conlin was born at home in rural Sherburn, Minnesota on October 19, 1936 to Eddie Conlin and Hazel Marie (DeLapp) Conlin. He had two brothers, Edward “Bud” and David, and two sisters, Mavis and Leila Rae (stillborn). He was the grandson of Nick Conlin a police officer in Sherburn. He attended country school in Martin County. He moved with his family to a farm in Jackson County, MN when he was 12. He helped his father farm and later came to run the farm until 1986.
He met his wife Sheris Ann Titus while dancing at the Fox Lake Ballroom outside of Sherburn and they married on February 18, 1956. They had 4 children, Glen Michael (died at birth), Marci Layne, Jaci Lee and Staci Lyn.
Harold loved farming, hunting, fishing, cowboy hats and boots. He always had a tool pouch hooked on his belt as he could fix almost anything. He enjoyed his numerous trips to various places in the US to hunt, fish, camp and go for snow mobile rides. He loved working the land and could be found at all hours of the day in the fields. However, sometimes he managed to find the time to play a few pranks with and on his friends.
Harold and Sheri later resettled in Sioux Falls, SD where he became a pipefitter with Total Fire Protection and worked there until he retired. Harold and Sheris divorced after nearly 36 years of marriage.
Harold met his special friend, Patricia Schaefer, who shared his love of the outdoors. He and Pat spent many years being each others friend and companion.
Harold lived his life to the fullest each day. He remained active even in his later years despite his chronic respiratory illness. Even on his last day he didn’t quit until the chores were done. The lawn needed to be mowed so Harold strapped the oxygen tank to the mower and got to work. The next day his breathing became difficult so he was brought to Sanford Medical Center where it became known that he suffered a heart attack. He later died of heart complications, advanced COPD and prostate cancer. He passed away peacefully on July 8, 2013 with his “3-girls” and Pat by his side.
He leaves behind his three daughters, Marci (Antonio) Rodriguez of Trophy Club, TX, Jaci (John) Entenza of Hudson, WI and Staci (Rollin) Unruh of Sioux Falls, SD, four grandchildren, Gabriella Rodriguez, Andrew Entenza, Samuel Entenza and Erin Unruh, special friend Patricia Schaefer of Chancellor, SD and her two children Roberta Weelborg and Lynn Schaefer, sister Mavis (George) Conors of Hendricks, MN, sister-in-law Ruth Conlin of St. Paul, MN, many nephews, nieces, dear friends and ex-wife Sheris Kensinger of San Benito, TX.
Harold is preceded in death by his infant son, Glen, his parents, Eddie and Hazel, two brothers, Edward and David and infant sister Leila Rae. He is returning home to Sherburn where he will be laid to rest in the Conlin family plot.
